Easy to install

The first step is to take off the cover. The original cover must be removed before the replacement is able to be installed.
After you have removed the old cover After that, use a flathead screwdriver in order to pry out the four main attachment clips on the passenger side of the fob assembly. They are marked with red on the image below. Also, note the tabs for locating slots in yellow that need to be disconnected also.
Replace the battery with a #CR2032 coin cell battery. The "+" side of the battery should be facing the fob's opening, and the "-" side should face the rubber buttons.
Reattach the mirror's passenger side cover by aligning the tabs that locate it. Once you've done this then put the fob on the driver's side back into your car and test it. Press the push button located at the top of the key. If everything is working correctly, the parking lights should be lit and the doors should automatically shut.

The battery is simple to replace by turning the switch a quarter turn using a small flathead screwdriver.
The key fob contains a microchip in it that is used to communicate with the Body Control Module (BCM). When you insert your Fiat key, it presses the button on the ignition switch. This is used to remind you of the "key-inignition". The BCM will then be able to read the transponder in the key fob and confirm that it's valid.
